Beltwala skin traction is a form of belt that is attached to the skin and soft tissues. The purpose of this traction is to decrease painful muscle spasms that accompany fractures. It is widely used in lower limb for femoral fractures , lower backache ,acetabular and hip fractures. Skin traction rarely reduces fracture , but reduces pain and maintains length in fractures .It helps to put joint back in position and keep it still. Traction is also used to keep a group of muscles stretched to reduce muscle spasms . It is used when the soft tissues such as the muscles and tendons need to be repaired ,less force is applied during skin taction to avoid irritating or damaging the skin or other soft tissues..
